Bol Renversé: a Sino-Mauritian dish that’s also known as a ‘magic’ or ‘wonder’ bowl.
On the one hand, it’s really just an egg-topped stir fry moulded by an upturned bowl. On the other, it shines a light on one way to get kids to eat. Because it’s FUN.
I often hear parents say their children are ‘picky’ eaters, disinterested in trying new things and generally hard to feed. For sure cooking for kids can be difficult and tiresome. But I also think it’s easy to get stuck in a ‘safe’ rut. Mix it up, try new foods, don’t be afraid to explore different cuisines, get them involved and invested - even if it’s simply lifting an upturned bowl to reveal their meal.
