Are you and the people you’re feeding a touch jaded by your current meal rotation? Consider serving up something playful — i.e. with a ‘plate it yourself’ kind of vibe; and the potential to eat without cutlery.
In our house we have capital b Basic fajita nights fairly often. I don’t love them, but the others do. That’s half the battle, isn’t it? And, whisper it, I do quite enjoy just dumping a load of components in the middle of the table and letting everyone load their plates and tortillas however they fancy. It’s messy. It’s convivial. Everything gets eaten.
Another winner along the same lines, I’ve found, is the hybrid rice bowl-hand roll situation I’m suggesting to you today.
When doing this I present:
a large bowl of seasoned, glossy, slightly sticky short/medium grain rice;
a simple and relatively cheap protein, typically tuna or soft boiled eggs, sometimes Mayak-style (Google it. Or, if you’ve got Good Eggs, there’s a recipe for them there);
something green, so a kind of salsa-sa…
