I have a number of very specific mango memories; for some reason those experiences stick more clearly in the mind than with most other ingredients.
This realisation came to me last week while sharing with my son our first Alphonso mango of 2025. I imagine it washed over him as merely one component of his standard four course pre-school breakfast… but I marked as a moment to savour our mutual enjoyment of this juicy, tender, floral, intense, complex* fruit.
