Keep it Basic?

It took merely a handful of overly ambitious barbecues to realise that the ideal way to successfully feed groups of children in the summer, is with hot dogs.

This is because sausages in long buns + ketchup = by far the best cost:effort:success ratio available.

I have in mind disparate gaggles of children, each with their own eating habits. Plus their parents. But the same is probably true whoever you’re cooking for: be that a group of your child-at-heart friends, or simply the people you live with (again, each with their own quirky and frequently conflicting dietary requirements).

Sure, if you have time and you think people will appreciate it, you can always make everything seem more sophisticated by setting out a few platters of well-chosen BBQ sides. (See this post to get ideas and recipes for those.)
